RYAP!

This year I was given the challenge of teaching "Reaching Your Academic Potential".  It was assigned in the second semester and has been a new experience for me.  Students in the course are not always motivated to learn.  It has been a task to gain improvements with this course.  My main goal has been to excite and inspire students to attend mandatory sessions as well as turn in required assignments.

The class has been taught with Kristin McHugh, Diane Kunistsky and Beverly Nelson.  Our students have been fun to teach. One student in particular, has mentioned how he looks forward to the class.  He thinks it is fun. I have asked students for music requests to play before class begins and I feel that it is a motivation to return the next week to class.

It is great to be able to see how other teachers approach class and instruct students.  I think it is such an important component of our growth as teachers to learn from each other.  Being able to be mentored by peers has been a great resource.

What's gonna work? TEAMWORK!

This year has been so successful due to the teamwork between myself and Kristin McHugh.  She is a fantastic art teacher.  We have been able to co-teach classes this year, which is beneficial for our students, as well as ourselves.  Each week, we are able to help each other handle the chats, answer questions and give different points of views.  With the large number of kids that are attending, it has been so important to have more than one person able to address concerns.

In addition, Kristin has really been a true help and partner to me.  She is always available to answer my questions.  We also are able to ask each other "opinion" questions when it comes to grading, education and art questions. It is great to work with someone who is such a professional as well as a great person!

I have such great appreciation for her and her teaching abilities.  If I can speak plainly, she is SUPER SUPER SUPER!  She is able to reach out to students and generate enthusiasm for art.  We make a great team!

Yearbook Artwork

I am working with Shelley Dickey and Kristin McHugh to create some pages filled with artwork of our students.  It is another great way for us to promote and showcase the capabilities of our students.
